Cigar Box Guitars

Cigar Box Guitars are individually handcrafted and unique. Each one with its own character. Not two sing the same! The necks and fretboards are made from hard woods, oak, maple, mahogany, and poplar. The action of the strings of the fretted guitars are at a height that can be played fretted or with a slide for that good ol’ blues sound!

Custom “The Doors Album Cover” 3 String Cigar Box Guitar

A Doors album was carefully glued and varnished on a large cigar box. A custom one of a kind tail piece in the shape of a lizard was made of oak and metal. A flat pickup is ghosted under the lid.

Custom Electric Pie Pan Guitar

Pie pans are not just for cooking! Two pie pans were screwed together with a flat pickup inside. A wooden circle was lasered with the artist songs going around the simulated record. Cut vinyl records go around the laser record with matching wooden knobs and crochet strap.

Van Halen 3 String Electric

This custom VH inspired guitar was custom ordered for Steve, which I painted his name on the headstock. It has a one of a kind tailpiece that you will not find anywhere! Chrome hardware and a Hot Rail Pickup

Electric 3 String Coffin Canjo

I took a cool looking beer can, cut it out and glued it to a strong soup can so it doesn’t crush! Has a single coil pickup and chrome hardware. A lot of details here. Neck and cross fret markers were burnt. Coffin was distressed, burnt and stained, and a custom quote and initials were lasered on. Another one of a kind!

“FREEDOM” Electric 3 String

This is a 24″ Scale 3 String Electric Acoustic Cigar Box Guitar. For sure you will not find another one like this. I spend many hours and pay attention to every detail to make sure you get a unique art build and perfectly intonated instrument that you can enjoy.
The bolt on neck is made of hardwood and has a Rosewood fretboard with 20 frets. The headstock has been shaped and laminated with mahogany on the front and back to give it a dimensional detail. An antique brass eagle adorns the top of the headstock. The box body is made of thin ply with a top veneer of Sapele giving it a nice loud acoustic sound.. The artwork was painted by me and clear coated for protection. The sound hole is carefully cut out in the word Freedom. All the hardware, corners, strap holders, tail hinge, control knobs, and tuner keys are antique brass. The control plate, jack plate and tailpiece are oak and maple stained a dark walnut. The maple bridge has carving details on the side and stained dark walnut too, with a fret on top. The action is set at a medium height so you can fret comfortably and also use a slide with no problem. The strings are 36, 26, and 17 tuned Gdg.
A single coil flat pickup is under the sound board as to not to interfere with the artwork giving it a good sounding kick!!
The box measures 7″ x 9.75″ x 2.5″ Deep. Total length is 33″.

“Hollywood” Electric 3 String

This was custom made for David’s Gifts & Tobacco Shop in Rancho Cucamonga, CA. The cigar box is one of their own. The headstock and fretboard were hand painted. The tailpiece is a washer with a California quarter in it.

“Magic Toast” Electric 3 String

The lid of this cigar box was flipped over to showcase the beautiful bright graphic. Special details were made to match the design of this very unique box. Custom fret markers, handmade wooden knobs, and bridge all match the dark red color scheme.

“HellCat” Electric 3 String

This “Hellcat” is a 24″ Scale 3 String Electric Acoustic Cigar Box Guitar. Neck is made of mahogany wood and runs through the body for extra strength. Fretboard is poplar and has a natural hint of gold color that I thought was great for this build. The markers are painted black and flow over to the side of the fretboard as side markers. The wooden knobs are custom made with craved sides and gold color painted inside the grooves. The bridge is also custom made with two different woods, mahogany and poplar to match the neck and fretboard. The headstock is my own design with an inset of my logo, also color matching the guitar theme. The sound hole is also unique to the box . I wanted it to have that cat tooth feel to it. The pickup is a single coil and sounds amazing! Actually unplug sound quite loud too!
All hardware is antique brass, tuner keys and strap buttons. Strings are 36,26, and 17 tuned Gdg.

The beautiful black and gold “Hellcat ” cigar box measures approximately 8.25″ x 9.25″. Total length of guitar measures 33″.
